ACC Acupuncture Tauranga

Accidents and Musculoskeletal Pain

Acupuncture treatment may be subsidised through ACC for musculoskeletal pain or trauma due to an accident. In order to qualify for ACC subsidised acupuncture treatment you first need to have your injury accessed by a GP, medical doctor, osteopath, physiotherapist, chiropractor or other health professional registered to make an ACC claim for your injury. Once you have been accessed and ACC have accepted your claim, you will be given a claim number and then you may contact an acupuncturist to receive treatment. Your accepted claim must be less that 1 y old to qualify for acupuncture treatment. For ACC funded acupuncture treatment you are entitled to 12 weeks of treatment to be used over 12 weeks. For more information about Acupuncture ACC Treatments and what you are entitled to, you can find this on the ACC Website.

Currently, ACC funded acupuncture is not accessible for maternal birth injuries, or easily accessible for sensitive claims. If you need counselling support after experiencing a maternal birth injury you might be able to access this through contacting ACC. If you have ongoing health challenges, PTSD or emotional-trauma symptoms due to birth, are on a low-income, and would prefer a holistic body-orientated acupuncture treatment for trauma symptoms then another option is to consider support through WINZ Disability Allowance. You can chat with your GP around whether you are eligible for accessing this support. You will need the support of your GP to recommend acupuncture as a therapeutic treatment for your health condition.
